Following a successful showcase of the technological advances supporting Terminal 4 at Singapore's Changi Airport, Channel NewsAsia this week is reporting on the transit hub's new floor cleaning robots.
Among the latest innovations unveiled at Changi Airport new Terminal 4 is an housekeeping robot that's already capturing the imagination of passengers.
The Squeaky prototype was the first robot designed and built by Avidbots from the ground up. It featured a cylindrical cleaning head plus an innovative bladder system to separate clean and dirty water. Powered by a small lithium ion battery, Squeaky had an average run time of 1.5 hours.
With a mission to help maximise human potential through robotics, Pablo Molina and Faizan Sheikh founded Avidbots on January 15th 2014. Their goal was to bring robots into more practical applications in everyday settings. The founders initially explored automated snow clearing, but quickly realised that indoor commercial floor cleaning offered a more compelling application for robotics.
