Channel NewsAsia Details Productivity and Customer Experience Benefits From Floor Cleaning Robots

Following a successful showcase of the technological advances supporting Terminal 4 at Singapore’s Changi Airport, Channel NewsAsia this week is reporting on the transit hub’s new floor cleaning robots.

Having already deployed four robots at the terminal, the report states there are plans to add a further six in 2018.

“It’s exhausting to clean these wide floor areas by ourselves,” said 69-year-old Tan Tiong Wah, one of 150 housekeepers. “Using these robots makes life easier for us.”

Enhanced performance and productivity savings from the robots allows management at Changi Airport to reallocate staff to other tasks, the report said.

“At the end of the day, it’s really more of a shifting of resources, and not so much letting go of people from the airport,” said T4 Programme Management Office vice president Poh Li San. The management team are anticipating a 10% improvement in productivity at the new terminal,  compared to performance at Terminal 3.
